It wasn't a bad week off. I didn't make much progress cleaning this Andy-sty,
but there were compensations. Caucusing was a neat way to see my neighbors
in a new way, and the Public Journalism seminar KAXE had was a lot of fun too.
That in itself generated a few changes- to participate, we all had to set up a Blogger
account, so I decided to cross post everything I do there as well. The type of blogging
I do, point-and comment, basically, isn't what they are looking for (KAXE is trying to
set up a regional group news blog like MinnesotaMonitor), but it sure will be interesting
to watch- as a matter of fact- they already did an interesting story about community
organic farming right here in Brainerd- check out the podcast.

Obama keep on rolling along- he swept the weekend primaries and it seems
for now that he's got the momentum rolling into the next round of primaries
this week.

There are signs that the Republicans are trying out some new talking points in
case their preferred challenger doesn't make it:

.................................................................................................................................................................................

The president weighed in on the Democratic race, saying it "seems far from over to me." And he
rejected criticism of former President Clinton's work on the campaign trail for Sen. Hillary Clinton,
D-N.Y.

"I can understand why President Clinton wants to campaign hard for his wife. And those accusations
that Bill Clinton's a racist, I think is just wrong. I just don't agree with it."

As for Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., Bush said, "I certainly don't know what he believes in.

"The only foreign policy thing I remember he said was he's going to attack Pakistan and embrace
Ahmadinejad."

.................................................................................................................................................................................

Whatever Democrat finally is chosen to run, you can be sure that " the stab in the back"
will be a popular theme out of The Party whoever runs. This is a bit ironic, since in Bush's
new budget plan, there's not a dime in it for a Troop Benefits Plan.

After all, one doesn't want to do anything that might give the help airs...

There was a meeting of Minnesota peace groups this weekend
to discuss plans for protesting the upcoming RNC convention.

I doubt there was any mention of subterranean activities,
though the local PD does have a plan for that contingency as well, right
out of the old B movie, Battle Beneath the Earth

Taking a socialized shit- single-payer health, in and out of perspective.

Speaking of which, this is how you sell shit online!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What every good Republican needs- balls for his truck.

Speaking of which, the Orcinus blog has a nice article
related to that very thing- they ask, is misogyny,
pseudo-facism, and real facism a natural progression?

Big-Sky's-Trout-Slayer-Ale

Big Sky's Trout Slayer Ale pours a big, stiff, long lasting head over
a clear yellow brew. Carbonation is active, and the nose is wheat
malt. The flavor is crisp wheat up front with lemon notes with a long
grassy hop finish. Mouthfeel is light and neutral. It's not bad, but the
wheat beer thing seems overrepresented lately, and it's really hard
to break out of the pack. It's drinkable enough- just wait until the stuff's
on sale.

Tier 2

Sprecher Pipers Scotch Ale

Sprecher Pipers Scotch Ale pours a finger of head over a very cloudy
deep amber brew. Carbonation is steady and the nose is your typical
English fruitiness- this one is particularly juicy-seeming. The flavor is
deep and malty, with smoky, earthy, peaty notes and a tiny bit of herbal
hop in the finish barely tickling the throat. Mouthfeel is round, pleasant,
and full bodied. Very nice, and as always, what with those pint four packs
Sprecher sells, a good value too.

Tier 1

Il-Rosé

Il Rosé sparkling wine pours a peach colored fluid. Carbonation is
initially active, but soon settles down to a slow pop-pop-pop. The
nose is faintly of berries and a bit resinous as well. The flavor is
tart, and, again of berries. Mouthfeel is very very thin, and I would
say this is the weakest selection in the Il lineup. I do like the production
design- there's just something about frosted glass. Il markets a variety
of bargain sparklers- this is probably one to avoid- unless you're building
a lamp...
